Many have asked for a status update on the FFOF Project, so here it is:
Permits
Fields For Our Future could receive its permit by July 7, 2008.
Funding
The $300,000 from the City for FFOF is still in the budget. City Counselors have felt that they need to keep their commitment to community projects. It still can be voted out at any time. The City Council has to pass an Interagency Agreement in order to transfer the funds to the Park District. Thanks to all who emailed the City Council members and came to the City Council meeting and to Cindy Shea, Nick Daluiso, Ellen Brown and Theresa Olson for attending the Finance and City Council meetings.
With the $300,000 from the City of Bainbridge Island, there is $1.4 million committed to the project. A direct mailing to the BIYSC and the Boys and Girls Lacrosse memberships will be in the mail soon. Please be generous so that we can complete the project!
Project Management
Parks submitted the specs and the drawings to the contractor on June 10th. It will take two weeks for them to put together the contract. We will know how much the project will cost at that time. Fieldturf has said that they can begin construction as soon as funding is secured and the permit has been issued.
Timeline
IF the permit is not appealed,
IF the City Council votes for the Interagency Agreement to transfer $300,000 to the Parks,
IF the project costs $1.4 million including a 10% contingency or less,
IF the direct mailing is successful to match the Rotary grant,
THEN we could start construction as early as mid-July. The fields would be open the first of November in time for President’s Cup.
We are getting ever closer!
