Example Team Contract

Many coaches ask their players to sign a “contract” at the beginning of the season. These documents simply commit kids to give their best, and respect their coaches and peers. It is a good learning tool for kids, and reinforces them to do what they said they’d do. This is valuable for life!

Team contracts can be tailored any way a coach desires.An example is provided below:

1. If players will be absent they should inform the coach as soon as possible.

2. Players should inform their coach of any injury.

3. Players should give 100% effort in terms of ability and concentration at all times.

4. Players should have correct attire for sessions/games. This includes warm-ups, shin guards, suitable footwear.

5. Players are responsible for their ball & water bottles.

6. Players should respect the facilities, equipment, coaches, referees and other players at all times.

7. Players should remove jewelry before playing.

8. Players will never swear or use derogatory language.

9. Timeliness is important. Plan to arrive to all sessions at least 5 minutes early, and games 45 minutes early. Arrive prepared to play.

10. Parents are encouraged to attend games and cheer. Parents should not communicate with referees or talk to their children while they are on the playing field.
